Roland Merullo's latest novel, The Talk-Funny Girl, has been named a 2011 Alex Award Winner. The Alex Awards are given by the Young Adult Library Services Association to ten books written for adults that have special appeal to young adults, ages 12 through 18.

Roland Merullo: Reading Public Library, Reading MA

In March, author Roland Merullo addressed a crowd of approximately 150 people at the Reading Public Library.  His presentation covered a number of topics including his background, his origins as a writer and the elements of a writer's craft.  Mr. Merullo answered several questions from the audience.  These queries focused on the 12 books he has published to date as well his new novel, The Talk-Funny Girl to be released in July by Random House

Publishers Conference: Waltham, Massachusetts

Peter Sarno recently attended a conference held by the Independent Publishers of New England (IPNE) entitled “Survive and Thrive.”  During this event, he had the opportunity to meet with several successful publishers, editors and publicists, etc.  Speakers included: Tordis Ilg Isselhardt and Pamela J. Fenner, IPNE Co-Presidents, Cevin Bryerman, of Publishers Weekly, David R. Godine of Godine Publishing and author Tim Brookes of the Champlain College Publishing Initiative.

Andre Dubus III - Boston, MA

Peter Sarno had the honor and privilege to host Andre Dubus III at the University of Massachusetts, Boston as part of the MFA Program’s Global Voices series.

Mr. Dubus read from his critically acclaimed memoir, Townie and answered a variety of questions from an audience totaling approximately 175 people. This discussion focused on the recent memoir, his other novels and short stories, as well as the craft of writing.
